PACS - Picture Archiving and Communication System
Viera Diagnostic Center’s equipment is connected through a PACS, or Picture Archiving and Communication System. We apply the same principles when documenting medical diagnostic tests and examinations for all types of issues using varying devices. Our radiologists and technologists are experts and experienced when it comes to applying PACS during interpretation of diagnostic exam results.
PACS allows the convenient storage and access of images taken from various medical equipments. All images are stored in one format called DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine). Non-image files, including documents on the other hand can be saved using standard formats such as PDF (Portable Document Format).
PACS is comprised of four components. These include the imaging modalities or mediums, a secured network for transmitting data, workstations used for the interpretation of images, and archives used for storage and retrieval of the files.
