Viera Diagnostic Center's Breast Biopsy is powered by Mammotome® technology from Ethicon Endo-Surgery (a Johnson & Johnson company) features an advanced method for the early diagnosis of breast cancer.
The Mammotome Breast Biopsy System is a method which aid doctors to find abnormal breast tissues and gathers samples through minimal invasive means.
In this procedure, the patient will lie face down on the exam table with the breasts projecting outward through a hole. The breast is immobilized by slightly compressing it. The table is actually similar to a mammogram table and lets a doctor capture images. The table is attached to a computer and images are acquired through the aide of x-rays.
Unlike other biopsy procedures, Mammotome can gather multiple samples with a single incision alone.
The Mammotome Breast Biopsy System
The Mammotome Breast Biopsy System requires only 1/4" incision. The whole process can be completed in less than an hour with only local anesthesia. It can sample variations of breast abnormalities including micro calcifications, asymmetric densities, solid masses or nodules, and can gather multiple samples with a single incision. There is no need for sutures as well. When the biopsy is finished, tissue samples are delivered to the laboratory to be analyzed.
